Winnemucca, NV — Nevada Outdoor School (NOS) is proud to announce a generous $5,000 grant from the Mule Deer Foundation to support NOS summer camp programming and help more Nevada youth increase their time spent outdoors.
This funding will directly support Nevada Outdoor School’s summer camps, which provide youth with opportunities to explore Nevada’s natural landscapes, build outdoor skills, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the environment. Through hands-on activities such as hiking, camping, outdoor cooking, wildlife education, and environmental stewardship lessons, NOS summer camps inspire curiosity, confidence, and connection to the outdoors.
“At Nevada Outdoor School, we believe time spent outdoors has the power to positively impact youth by improving mental and physical well-being, building resilience, and creating meaningful connections to nature,” said Melanie Erquiaga, NOS Executive Director. “We are grateful to the Mule Deer Foundation for investing in Nevada’s youth and helping make outdoor experiences more accessible to families across the state.”
The grant aligns with both organizations’ commitment to conservation, outdoor recreation, and fostering the next generation of responsible outdoor enthusiasts. By reducing financial barriers and expanding program resources, this support helps ensure more children can participate in safe, educational, and memorable summer camp experiences.
Nevada Outdoor School’s summer camps serve youth across the state and are designed to increase time spent outdoors while teaching essential outdoor ethics and skills, including Leave No Trace principles, teamwork, and environmental responsibility.
